There are a ton of apps to keep women safe these days.  They mostly rely on tracking software and easy-to-push alarm buttons that let your friends and family know you're in danger. But the newest gadgets to keep women safe are all jewelry-based.

Some of the wearable items include:

  • The Safelet – A bracelet with alarms you can push if you're in trouble.

  • First sign – A hair clip that detects head impacts which suggest physical assault. It activates a microphone that records the incident while the wearer's phone calls police.

  • Cuff and Artemis – These two companies create jewelry that connects via bluetooth to your smartphone.

  • Bembu - A wearable piece that looks like a FitBit that can send for help in case of an emergency. (Jezebel)
