While California has entered the first stage of the coronavirus vaccine, Los Angeles County residents can now find out when they're eligible to receive the vaccine through this brand new online tool. The My Turn portal was launched by the state and is currently being tested in L.A. and San Diego counties. The website allows eligible users to schedule an appointment for the vaccination and for those who aren't eligible yet will be alerted by email or text when it is their turn. Officials want to test out this online tool in California’s two largest counties and smooth out any issues before launching it statewide next month. According to Governor Gavin Newsom,
“We want to bring it to the rest of the state and we hope to do so in the next few weeks. It’s the most robust end-to-end system of its type that any state’s put up. So it’s got a lot more components, and we just want to make sure that we don’t run the thing into the ground and have a system that shuts down.”
As of right now, California is prioritizing the COVID vaccine for health care workers, residents and staff at long-term care facilities, and those ages 65 and older.
