LAUSD Announced A Mental Health Hotline For Students And Families!

The Los Angeles Unified School District just announced they they will start operating a mental health hotline to help students and families cope with the coronavirus pandemic. The hotline number is 213-241-3840 and the staff consists of counselors and mental health professionals. They'll be available weekdays from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. and the operators will be able to speak to people in both English and Spanish. Teachers will be able to call the hotline number or email mentalhealth@lausd.net to get advice about how to connect their students with services.

According to LAUSD Superintendent Austin Beutner,

The absence from school creates hardship, loss of stability and friendships, loss of learning and loss of a big part of our students’ social safety net. Their world has been turned upside down, and we need to make sure students have the support they need.”

LAUSD officials also mentioned that the district will continue to operate the district’s COVID-19 hotline for families at 213-443-1300 to help answer questions about school operations, technology and other student-related matters.
