It’s official, Queen Elizabeth II has given Prince Harry her consent to marry Meghan Markle. She expressed her approval in a letter to the Privy Council. She even used their real names, which are Henry and Rachel.

The statement reads: “I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council.”

According to “Daily Mail,” the first six people in line for the crown must have the Queen’s official consent before they marry. If Prince Harry and Meghan decided to get married without her approval, he and his kids would be banned from ever getting the crown.

  • Meghan has already been fitting in well based on her previous royal engagements. Most recently, she stepped out with the Queen in their first royal engagement together on Commonwealth Day. Before that, Meghan made her first royal engagement with her future in-laws Kate Middleton and Prince William.
  • Speaking of Will and Kate, they also to get the Queen’s permission before their wedding. She signed a similar letter granting Will permission to marry Kate only a week before their 2011 nuptials.
