MAN UP: Women who show MALE TRAITS could land better jobs!

To get ahead at work in a man's world women should consider showing some characteristics commonly associated with men, finds a new study.

University of Cambridge researchers submitted 351 pairs of written job applications for entry level positions in London.

Each indicated the applicant was an unmarried, white, 21-year-old woman in the third year of college pursuing a psychology, business studies or education degree.

Some were described as having leadership skills and a willingness to take risks (considered masculine traits), while others were described as being gentle, friendly, and affectionate (traditionally more feminine traits.) The results shows the male-like personality profiles were offered jobs with an average salary of about $38,000, while the more feminine profiles were offered jobs with an average salary of just $36,500.

Study co-author Dr. Nick Drydakis adds, "While diversity and equal opportunities are continuously being advocated within workplace settings, nevertheless, masculine personality traits appear to remain prevalent, thus challenging the rhetoric surrounding gender equality."
