Fresh off starring in the mega-hit film Project Hail Mary, Ryan Gosling has dropped out of a highly anticipated upcoming Universal movie led by Academy Award-winning duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

The Oscar-nominated actor, 45, exited the still-untitled project due to potential scheduling conflicts, per Deadline.

The movie, which is being directed by the Oscar-winning team behind the hit 2022 film Everything Everywhere All At Once, had been slated to begin filming this summer. Sources told the outlet that this was a problem, as it "was unable to move off its targeted date."

These timing conflicts potentially posed a problem for the Barbie actor, leading to him exiting the project. Despite Gosling's shocking departure, the film remains on schedule, with a release date of November 19, 2027.

While storyline details have yet to be revealed, Kwan promised fans the film would be "very existential and a fun sci-fi, action comedy with a big heart" at SXSW, per Collider.

Though he won't be appearing in the upcoming film, Gosling has recently been busy promoting his smash new movie. Project Hail Mary, which hit theaters last month, has already grossed more than $334 million at the box office globally.

Gosling also is set to star in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, the newest installment in the George Lucas franchise, which is slated to hit theaters next year.
